Use the following formula and information to determine what your drag chute needs are going to be. However, this formula is only a guide. Stroud recommends calling them to find out exactly what you need. • Drag chutes only understand two things: weight and speed. • Body styles do enter into the picture. • You can figure out how much canopy you need and match it to your class by using the formula below. Remember, this is only a guide. ((Weight of car, in pounds) X (Speed, in mph)) ÷ 1,000 For example: (1,600 X 150) ÷ 1,000 = 240 This is the MAX limit for S/C. If you have a higher number than this, you require a stronger chute. If you are over 200mph or your number exceeds the table limits, please call Stroud. Stroud offers chutes with two types of Deployment/Launcher systems: 01- Deployment Bag, uses a pilot chute If you are using a pilot chute deployment method you will receive a #4063 Large Deployment Bag and a #23 Bridal cord 02- Launcher Bag, uses a launching spring or air assist If you are using a launching (air or spring) you will receive a #4053 Large Launcher Bag Tip! If you currently have a canvas bag with a black circle attached to it, you need the launching system bag.
